Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies

These bacon wrapped little smokie are my most popular potluck item. Whenever I bring them, they get eaten up immediately. Here's how to make them!



INGREDIENTS

- 1 lb of bacon

- 1 package of little smokies

- 1/2 cup to 1 cup of brown sugar

- pepper


SPECIAL EQUIPTMENT

- toothpicks

- baking sheet


INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 425.

  2. Combine brown sugar and pepper in a small bowl or plate

  3. Cut bacon into thirds

  4. Wrap a little smokie with a piece of bacon and secure using a toothpick

  5. Place the bacon wrapped smokie in the brown sugar mixture. Rub some of the brown sugar on the smokie. You don't want to pile it on as too much sugar will burn in the oven.

  6. Place the smokie onto a foil lined baking sheet.

  7. Repeat these steps until you have used all the little smokies.

  8. Bake in top third of oven for at least 20 minutes, checking halfway and flipping or rotating smokies as needed. Bake longer for more color and crunch.

  9. I like to bake them longer - closer to 35 minutes to get a deeper color on the bacon though this will cause some of the brown sugar to burn on the pan.
